Padding inside felt good to walk on, but heel felt too stiff - I could tell I would get blisters right away. Shoe was also too heavy for my liking, especially the sole. I guess if you like a very sturdy shoe, this might work for you. Also, brown and black color combination not as cute as I'd hoped. So I returned it. Look: What I thought was going to be a comfortable experience turned out bad...one shoe fits fine, the other rubbed up against the back of my ankle area so badly that it bled. I felt these were the kind of shoes one could wear without socks because they look kind of dumb with short socks. Look:I should have believed the reviews I read about these shoes not being true to size before ordering them. They were right. I wear an 8-1/2 or 9 and have a pair of Privos in another style in a 9 which fit fine. I ordered both an 8-1/2 and 9 to be on the safe side. Look:I purchased this shoe in green last spring and fell in love with it. I took it on several trips out of town and was able to wear it days on end--a practice unheard of for me. The footbed is secure, yet comfortable. My ideal size is a wide width; however, the fit of this shoe accommodates a wider foot without pinching the sides of my feet or my toes. I walked for miles in it with no pain afterward! Look:I tried these shoes because someone reviewed them who had arthritis and thought they would be helpful for me. I have peripheral neuropathy and have had a tough time finding shoes to wear after a year from the injury. Although, these are so very cute and versatile they were a little on the stiff side. If my feet were normal I would probably enjoy the little nubbies on the inside that massage your foot. I am not sure if this will help anyone, I hope so. I ordered a 1/2 a size down because of the reviews (8.5 instead of my normal 9) and they fit nicely. The only problem is the toe is tight which is very painful. They look like something JS would wear! The only issue with the comfort is a place where the sides of the boot want to rub against my ankle -- it is kind of stiff, but I think I can make it work (we'll see how my ankle feels about that after I wear them for any length of time). Also, I like the loose fit -- the shaft part of the boot is really big and roomy, so if you have skinny legs, it will be super loose on you. Tons of room for wearing over jeans -- would look great over super fitted jeans or leggings. Awesome. Quality is a little above average overall. For years I have had trouble wearing any kind of shoes except Crocs. I found these Woolrich shoes 1 1/2 years ago and they are wonderful. In addition to getting many, many compliments on my "cool shoes", they are extremely comfortable and I feel like a new person wearing "real" shoes. I wear an 8.5W, generally, but ordered a 9M and it fits perfectly. The insole is removable in case you need to use your own orthotic. Comes up a little higher in the back than I normally like, but doesn't really bother me. I have not worn without a thin sock, so I have not experienced any discomfort or blisters as others have mentioned. As other reviewers have mentioned, the shoes caused horrible blisters on my heels after wearing just an hour without much walking. The heel is very stiff and also came up high on my heel. This time I bought the black nubuck, which has a patent strap across the top. They are casually dressy enough to wear with casual slacks at work, but also work with jeans and capris. I always wear a 1/2 size larger in Clark’s (except for Clark's Artisan which are true-to-size for me) and I wear a 1/2 size larger in Privos as well. But...ouch. They do cut across the ball of my foot/toe area, and I can't even begin to describe the painful blisters I got on my heels. Had to wear band-aids the first 5 times I wore them. Then decided to put some moleskin in the heel area. Works great. It's got an adhesive back and you can cut it to fit (I put it running from the inside base of the heel up over the back of the shoe and onto the "tab"). Gave it a 3 in comfort only because I was able to come up with this solution. Does run big--I had to order a half size down from my regular size. I bought a white pair about two years ago and yes, the first time I wore them I got a boo-boo on each ankle, but that was when I was still breaking them in. ANY shoe can give you a blister. After I'd worn them for a couple of days, they were more flexible and didn't give me any trouble! The comfy bumps on the soles also make them ideal work shoes. The sole is like a tire, too beefy, too strong, difficult to break in. There seems to be a trend in heavy rubber soles, and although these shoes look lighter in style than many others, they're muscular, tough shoes. It's regrettable because if they were more flexible, I'd like a few more of the colors. The style is very nice with jeans and slacks, and they're very much a fall style.
